Buy it Now price is at around 9000$, it has 80000 miles and most of all: IT’S A 12A TURBO UNICORN!

It’s the stock version of my car... Less than 2000 were produced in 1984 and 1985, in Japan only and who knows how many are left today. It’s VERY rare, even here and when a dealer gets his hand on one, they try to sell them for stupidly high prices... 9000$ is a steal and I can’t recommend enough someone with the means to get it, to buy this one.

Seats are not originals (they are SA22C seats, just not the right color), but you can find stock ones fairly easily.

Shipping should set you back around 1000$ to California, maybe 1600$ to the east coast... Add port of embarkation and debarkation fees (1000$) maybe and 8% taxes... There you go, you will be one of the only person in north america with a 12a turbo RX7!

Someone gets it! It’s an AWESOME car!

Damn, Right hand drive protects prevents me from getting so many nice cars. I know it’s not impossible, but I’m lazy and don’t want to learn how to shift with the left hand, and an auto is not an option. My RHD only dream garage would be:
- Mitsubishi Pajevo : to tow a trailer with style
- Toyota Sera : just look at the doors!
- Skyline R34 GTR : obligatory
- Mazda Cosmo Sport : Because the world goes round, not up and down

You don’t “learn” to shift with the left hand really... you just do it. It feels a bit strange the first 2 or 3 days then it’s back to normal. Keep in mind I’ve only lived in Japan for a year and a half... I barely had experience with RHD cars before coming here.

PS: The Toyota Sera sucks. If you want Gullwing doors, just get an AZ-1 ;)

Yes it does :)

In all seriousness, you COULD see a backfire like this in a RX7. If you do though, you’ll have to welcome some new Apex Seals (these words deserve caps) into your engine.

Backfire is normal, anything blue: engine out!!

I totally agree with Flavien Vidal, you just do it. I test drove a RHD turbo FC Savannah RX-7 and while my shifts weren’t fast, I never missed once and it would be come natural very quickly. (But then again I am left handed so YMMV)

I loves me some backfire. My MR2 used to do it. Hopefully it still will with the new engine.

haha, the fact that it did it might actually be the reason why you need a new engine now :)

If we except straight piped rotaries (mine is),turbo cars with anti-lag and cars with way too much horsepower and witchcraft, backfires are bad news :)

there is no learning. I bought a RHD car and it’s the same and took me 0 seconds to figure out the difference

Maybe, but it was also catless and straight-piped, which I understand increases the likelihood of backfires, especially in higher strung motors (could be wrong). It wasn’t constant until the end when the engine was fucked and needed a rebuild anyway. The thing had about 225k miles on what looks like a completely untouched engine and spent alot of its last year with the original on track. It did it for 20k miles or so on every gear-shift or off-throttle moment over about 4000 rpms. I am thinking about going forced induction with the original motor though.

I guess I would get used to it quickly, but overtaking would probably become somewhat problematic. As a track car it could work though.
I actually have a soft spot for sport k-cars. On the PS2, I loved the AZ-1, Cappuccino, and the beat Beat in Tokyo extreme racer, but I probably couldn’t drive them, as I’m 1,95 m. I had to pass on the Alpine A110 for this very reason.

Well, I’m 188cm and can drive my father’s A110 1600SC pretty well... of course it’s tight but I fit pretty well.

As for te AZ-1, it’s a bit tight around the legs, but still drivable and I could wear a helmet in the car without any problem. Surprisingly not bad really... I have a lot more headroom in the AZ-1 than I had in my C4 LT1 Corvette...

Might be a torso/legs ratio thing. I had to tilt my head in the A110, so it wouldn’t be safe to drive. As for the corvette: that’s what targa roofs are for ;)
